Identify the stage that is failing
| What you see | Check next |
|---|---|
| No address and no usable coordinates | Device location, app permission and reception. |
| Coordinates appear but the address is blank | Network availability and address lookup. |
| Address appears in preview but not in the saved photo | The chosen style, visible fields and saved output. |
| A plausible but wrong or old address | Current position, cached data and any manual location choice. |
An address and a coordinate line are independent fields. A hidden coordinate line does not prove that the app failed to locate you. Look at the location controls as well as the watermark itself.
Check in a repeatable order
- Check the field and style Open the watermark controls, enable the address and use a style with space to display it.
- Check location permission Enable device location and review StampCam’s while-in-use access; enable precise location when appropriate.
- Refresh the position Check the displayed location against your surroundings. Move to a clearer reception area and retry if needed.
- Check the lookup Reconnect if an address is required, wait for the lookup and inspect any cached or manual place selection.
- Inspect a saved test photo If preview is correct, save a new photo and inspect the exported address before changing more settings.
Find the permission controls on your phone
On iPhone, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → StampCam. Check that location is enabled and the app can access it while in use. On Android, open the app’s information page → Permissions → Location; names vary by phone.
Use precise location when the task calls for it. If you granted a one-time permission, a later session may need permission again. Apple and Google describe these controls in the linked sources below.
Understand the coordinates-without-address case
A position can exist before a readable street address is available. Turning coordinates into an address is a lookup, so a service failure, no connection or incomplete map data can leave that line blank. Weather availability is not a reliable test of address lookup.
If a place name appears after reconnecting, check that it describes your current location rather than a cached or manually selected place. Do not replace an uncertain result with a confident-looking label and present it as measured.
If preview and saved photo disagree
- Take a new test photo after changing the field.
- Inspect it in the gallery outside the app.
- Try another style that provides an address slot.
- Record the app version and retain the sample if the discrepancy continues.
